Australia and Brighton GK Mat Ryan donating $500 for every Prem save to bushfires emergency fund

Socceroo Mat Ryan will donate 500 Australian dollars (about $343) to a bushfires emergency fund for every registered save by an English Premier League goalkeeper this weekend.

The Australian international goalkeeper, who will be in action for Brighton against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, will donate the funds he raises to the WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation emergency fund.

There will be a full round of Premier League fixtures this weekend, meaning 20 goalkeepers will be in action across the English top flight.

"In light of the devastation caused by the bushfires back home, I'm donating 500 Australian dollars for every save registered by all Premier League goalkeepers across every Premier League fixture this weekend," Ryan wrote on Twitter.

"I've chosen to donate to the WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation emergency fund.

"Thank you to all for your support thus far and as a nation we really do appreciate your gratitude and generosity. However, there continues to be homes lost, lives of both people and animals lost or in danger, along with whole communities, businesses and more.

"I hope we can continue in the same manner and continue to encourage and influence people into raising money for those affected.

"Fingers crossed relief is on the way."
